Summary/Abstract: Economic performance of enterprises is determined by their access to knowledge which is the main source of innovation and technological progress. In microeconomic terms, the guiding idea behind the creation of innovation in an organisation is the knowledge production function. Knowledge is considered a form of innovation capital transformed into innovation results. The main purpose of the article is to present the problems of knowledge in the innovation process of the organisation and its determinants. The study was based on the analysis of Polish and foreign literature, and also own research, using deductive-inductive reasoning. The process of creating new knowledge in organisations occurs as a result of conscious interactions between the social and technological sides. The originality of the newly created knowledge determines the possibilities of innovation and the success is determined by the development of specific relationships between organisations (administrations, regions and businesses).
