CONCEPT OF IRONY, ANALYSES OF LANGUAGE AND DISCOURSE, IN THE PROCESS OF SOCIAL CRITICISM IN ART

Summary/Abstract: Irony, as a discourse of social criticism, was scrutinized in this research with an interdisciplinary approach through the works of Lim Young Sun, Yue Minjun, Zeng Fanzhi and Liu Bolin. The ironic language was analyzed in individual and social query in these works, performances and various conceptual studies belonging to the aforementioned artists. With an ironic approach, a critical discourse analysis was used in the analyses of status of isolation and expressions of laughter and smile. In the course of questioning, ironic language was analyzed through a masking expression in a humors approach, and languages of discourse were examined. In their artistic expressions, when their ironical approaches were examined, artists are observed to produce a chimeric language of discourse.
