Evaluation of Green Hotels in Terms of Costs

Summary/Abstract: It is known that economic, social and cultural developments experienced around the world and in our country cause degradations in the natural environment as well as gaining benefits. The matter of sustainable tourism is also quite important because the tourism sector is one of the areas in which this degradation is experienced. For this reason various environmentally friendly practices are being implemented in order to ensure the sustainability of the environment. One of these practices includes green hotel management implemented by environmentally-friendly accommodation enterprises. In this context, the study has evaluated the green hotel management practices in terms of costs and has addressed the cost advantages these practices provide to the enterprises. The study has been discussed at conceptual level and secondary data sources have been utilized. According to the studies conducted in this regard, it has been determined that green hotel management practices, which have different benefits for enterprises and the environment are also advantageous in terms of costs to the enterprises.
