Summary/Abstract: During the period of Ahmed III and his famous vizier Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pasha, much more attention was paid extensively on reconstruction of İstanbul and development of the industry, remarkable works were composed. Ahmed III Sultan of that period and his officials tried hard to realize his aims. There are also a haircloth and a Hatayi factories among the establishments founded in that period. However, detailed researches more than some short sentences over the previously mentioned findings could have never been carried out. According to the studies with the archive documents, the haircloth factory, the first established one, was prepared for working at the late of 1708 in a new style after the restoration of a part of old Baruthane building in the Şehremini bazaar by Ebubekir Agha (master) during the period of Ahmed III but before İbrahim Pasha. Then it could be put into operation just in April 1710. In addition, the Hatayi factory have been begun to be built from the middle of 1721 even as part of it as an outhouse of the haircloth factory at the outset of the grand viziership of İbrahim Pasha. In the meantime, the haircloth factory was overlooked as if it had been rebuilt, and its capacity and function were expanded. In the archive documents there are information about the haircloth factory’s foundation, management, management problems, operations, departments, tools, profit-loss statement, workers, artisans, the matter of collecting wool and raw silk, obtained areas, production types, prices and their selling spaces. In this research, the aforementioned topics will be referred in detail.
