Summary/Abstract: In the paper results of economic effectiveness analysis conducted on the sample of almost 9 thousand firms from East and Central European countries: Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Poland and Slovenia in 2007–2014 were presented. Inference based on residuals of two-factor Cobb-Douglas production function allowed to draw the conclusions about share of enterprises with positive and negative economic effectiveness as well as to assess the influence of economic crises, data aggregation, firm’s size and kind of economic activity onto analysed phenomenon. Research was based on statistical data extracted from ORBIS database.
