Summary/Abstract: Everything is apparently well-known when it comes to the term of archival book. Definition is similar in every text book on archival science or recordkeeping. The law in all ex Yugoslav states requires specific form of archival book and obliges creators and holders of archival material to register in the Book all archival and active records and to regularly deliver copy of a Book to the relevant Archive. Lack of professional articles in archival literature and seminars seems to be confirming the theory that there is nothing to be added on this topic. But, is this really the case? Working for years on the protection of archival material outside Archives, authors of this article have determined that Archival Book is kept differently in registries, that certain companies do not find existing form to be suitable and that great number of registry offices is not satisfied with Archival Book’s structure defined forty years ago. It is also important to mention the issue of registering electronic documents.
