Summary/Abstract: The article presents the result of three experimental years. Number indicators are shown in order to measure at the beginning and at the end of the experiment the level of textual competence of one hundred and thirteen students in two secondary schools in the town of Shumen. The level of textual competency is divided into two groups: the first one-receptive skills of the students (defined as the ability of understanding the text and analyzing it) and the second one-productive skills (creating and retelling a composition). According to number results are suggested methodical decisions (exercises, lessons, two types of algorithms-one for analyzing a text and second for editing textual mistakes) all for bettering the level of textual competency of the students in secondary schools in understanding parts of speech as cohesive devices in a text.
