Summary/Abstract: The article raises the issue of the factors influencing the quality and effectiveness of the polysubjective teacher-student interaction in the context of national changes in the field of higher education towards competency-based and personal development approaches. The key factors of the competency-based university training of future teachers are explained succinctly in theoretical terms. The emphasis is on the presentation and analysis of the point of view of second and fourth year students of the Faculty of Education of Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen (studied through an anonymous online survey) on the importance of these factors for the development of competencies and key qualities of the teacher professionalism.
