GJILAN IN GENERAL UPRISING OF 1912

Summary/Abstract: Gjilan and its vicinity in General Anti-ottoman Uprising of 1912 was treated in the frame of uprising developments in entire Vilajet of Kosova, which not only was a center of those developments, but also incited the outbreak of uprising in the kaza (district) of Gjilan and other Albanian territories. Thus in this study main events that characterized the Vilajet of Kosova, were not possible to be neglected greatly since without their involvement could not be possible to present and harmonize more comprehensive and argumentative overview of this research – study topic. Political situation that was characterizing west part of the Vilajet of Kosova was reflecting also in the kaza of Gjilan that made this uprising be developed intertwined in the track of Albanian National Movement in Kosova Vilajet and in general Albani-an territories of the time. As known, at those times the kaza of Gjilani consisted of the present day city territories of Gjilan, Kamenica, Vitia, some parts of Prishtina, Ferizaj, Kaçanik and Bujanoc, where were included more than 190 villages.
