Summary/Abstract: Bulgarian traditional wedding, which marks the marriage, is holiday for family and kin, friends and relatives. In the past, it continues all week with great cycle of rituals and customs. This complex remains in large part preserved in time, rethinking in a new way. Meaning for the intro-duction of new elements has the socio-economic, political and cultural changes in the lives of Bulgarians. The source material for the study has been taken from examined vil¬lages, which are interesting with the peculiarities of the wedding customs in the 60s – 80s of the twentieth century and with naming them Marashki villages. Contemporary wedding rituals are a natural continuation of the tradi¬tional, which in the new conditions of life are significantly reduced in du¬ration and composition, and are changed and enriched with new elements.
