Summary/Abstract: The new Russian military doctrine, which takes into account the issue of the long-term defense of the country in the perspective of 2020, was approved and published. The first draft of the doctrine of the Russian Federation was drafted in 1993 during the Yeltsin period. The second version dates back to 2000, being an expression of President Putin's will. The "New Doctrine" of 2010 is considered by the Russian authorities as one of the fundamental documents of strategic planning, on the federation's security needs in the current international context and in relation to foreseeable changes in the future.Documents dealing with the principles and directives guiding the military activity in the field of national security are often presented to domestic and international public opinion with the intention of transmitting certain signals to the international environment. The moment chosen by the Russian Federation was the opening day of the Munich Conference on World Security (5 February) to have an impact on the debates that will take place on this occasion. In the document for publicity, the issue of the new Russian military doctrine is presented in four parts - 1. Doctrinal motivation and explanation of the terms used; 2. Dangers of war and military threats; 3. Military policy; 4. Economic and technical support for the defense of the country.
