Historical Legacy of Fr. Franciszek Trochonowicz

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to describe to the reader the hitherto largely unknown historical materials gathered by Fr. Franciszek Trochonowicz. This cleric, highly educated in theology and sociology (among others hecompleted his studies in Belgium) was a history enthusiast. On the occasion of being a pastor and dean in Janów Lubelski in the fifties and sixties of the twentieth century, he undertook to elaborate the history of this place. During his research Fr. Trochonowicz collected vast historical material, which was put in order by the author of this publication. The article shows the dean of Janów with special attention to his scientific interests. A large part of the text deals with the nature and significance of the discussed historical legacy. The publication discusses also the workshop of clerical work and his commitment to the history of Janów region.
