Summary/Abstract: The rights and interests of consumers in the internal market are still inadequately protected as compared to the protection they receive in modern economies. The products offered on the internal market do not comply with all the technical and quality standards; some products placed on the market are dangerous for human health and some wellknown brands are frequently of lower quality as compared to the products placed on the markets of developed countries. In the purchase of goods, Serbian consumers should be protected from false advertising, and their sense of security and trust should be re-established. As the process of the European Integration is being intensified, reforms in all areas of social and economic life are accelerating. In that process, consumer protection has been undergoing significant reforms which are ultimately aimed at adjusting the national standards, regulations and institutions with those of the developed economies.
