Summary/Abstract: For a long time now, the sustainable development theory has been considered to be of fundamental importance in today’s world. It is usually viewed in terms of sociocultural, environmental and economic aspects. In this context, the significance of integral development of personality has been emphasised by the author. However, she finds it increasingly difficult, even impossible to achieve its goals. It should be noted that virtual madness can be seen as an attempt to strip individuals of their humanity. Nowadays, individuals tend to rush to adopt new technologies and to acquire the skills of gathering information and benefiting from technological innovations, completely overlooking another man. Consequently, interpersonal relationships recognised as exerting a profound influence on shaping an individual’s spirituality may weaken. Moreover, bold attempts to conquer the virtual world seem to be made in isolation from the real world, which does not promote sustainable human development.
