Summary/Abstract: The use of information and communication technologies (ICT) can have a significant impact on the implementation of processes in the health care system. This involves numerous advantages, but also some challenges that may change the existing cost structure of the particular phases of information processes. In the article, authors analyze subsequent phases of the patient’s service process, from generation to the use of health information. The role of information and communication technologies in this process is taken into account. The analysis shows that the use of ICT solutions such as Electronic Health Record (EHR), e-ordering or on-line access to medical test results can improve work organization of the medical staff and reduce the costs of patient service. While working on the article, the authors consulted with the medical staff as well as used comparative methods and logical reasoning.
