Summary/Abstract: The age we live in is marked with scientific and technological revolution, especially in the field of information technology and biotechnology. Biotechnology, in the narrow sense, refers to the application of organisms, biological systems and bioprocesses in industrial production. Biotechnology is the multidisciplinary field, which include chemical, biological and engineering science. The central part of biotechnology is the genetic engineering, which is also called the gene-cloning.This paper addresses the most important legal issues concerning the possibility of biotechnological products patent protection (DNA series, genes, etc). Besides presenting the pro et contra legal argumentation relating to the patent protection of these inventions, this paper reviews both national and international legislation in this field.
