Summary/Abstract: In accordance with Grabinsky [2002], the family company is defined by the blood ties within the organization present between the owners and the people who perform the operation and strategic decision-making, facing the challenge of meeting the members of the organization and the family. The present research focuses on the methodology based on the analysis of a case study of a family business in the agro-industrial sector. The objective of this paper is to highlight the importance of philosophy and the organizational structure within the development and efficiency in the operation of a family business. The diagnosis was made by analyzing both the organizational structure, such as the administrative processes. The results indicate that the organizational structure of the company must be adjusted, delimiting the hierarchy, the type of authority, as well as the control which is specific to each functional area. The above mentioned aspects will be essential for the company to operate properly, to enhance the profitability and sustainability of the company on the market.
