Summary/Abstract: Graduate of the Pedagogical School in Arad, where, under the guidance of their teachers he began to gather the first folklore collections, Ioan T.Florea, the only ethnomusicologist in Arad after the Second World War, attended the Bucharest Conservatory, after which he was employed as a researcher at the Institute of Folklore of the Romanian Academy. Only one year after returning home for personal reasons, and employed as a folklorist at the State Philharmonic of Arad, Ioan T. Florea has continued to work with his former colleagues from the institute, and performed folklore collections in different areas of the country, working his whole life using the methods of the prestigious Bucharest institution. During his 30 years of activity he managed to gather in Arad County and surrounding villages a prestigious repertoire of instrumental music, with an unique professional quality of the transcriptions.
