Summary/Abstract: Narrative unreliability is conceived in this paper as an interpretation framework, which, however, cannot be accepted arbitrarily but only if the narrative text contains inconsistencies, which can best be clarified by questioning the narrator’s reliability. According to the author of the paper, the difference between narrative reliability and unreliability cannot be based on the author’s insufficiency (moral, cognitive, etc.). A narrator with a certain limitation only becomes unreliable when his or her insufficiency or limitation is used for the purposes of a deceptive strategy when conveying a story.
