Summary/Abstract: Today the national unity, as well as the right of religious liberty and freedom of conscience are recognised, and this in the law of individual contries as well as in declarations of an international nature. We, the Romanians, have achieved this goal due to the sacrifice of our ancestor 100 years ago. Especially for the Romanians from Transylvania, who were many centuries under the rule of the Hungarian crown or under the Hansburgic Empire, the Orthodox church was the single institution that preserved the national identity and the values of our nation.
