Summary/Abstract: Dynamic changes in business practice, customer expectations as well as highly competitive environment have determined the search for the efficiency of the operation of logistics chain, also in the flows of reverse resources. Logistics management of returns of different type, including defective products, has become particularly important. The aim of the paper has been to consider both theoretical and practical aspects of the process of defective product management with a focus on the possibility to measure this process in order to minimize returns and, at the same time, increase production efficiency. In the studies, there has been used the case of the production company of the automotive industry. On the basis of the procedure of returns management applicable in the company, there has been developed the set of key performance indicators of the process.
