The Implementation of Outsourcing in the Context of Project Management

Summary/Abstract: One of projects, which increase their market value and competitiveness of fi rm, is outsourcing.Many outsourcing contacts end in failure, whose source is mainly vaguely specifiedneeds and expectations of customers. Generally, many reasons for terminating the cooperationrefer to the initial stage. This means that the preparation stage is the key determinantof success in the case of using outsourcing, therefore this stage requires most attention andefforts on both sides of the contract. In the paper, there is considered the implementation ofthe cooperation from the point of view of project management, paying particular attentionto its initiation. In this context, there has been presented the tool supporting the decision onoutsourcing, whose construction is based on most frequent mistakes previously made whileconcluding the contract as well as project management standards. The aim of the paper is tocompare the guidelines for project management and the application of outsourcing.
