Summary/Abstract: Poland, like every European Union Member State, regardless of its international significance and size, should treat economic security as a priority of its policy. Economic security of the state primarily concerns the safety of public finances. It is associated with the ability of the economic system to use the internal factors of development and international interdependence to ensure economic development. Ensuring good financial condition of the state not only allows its existence, but also its development. For that reason, limiting the value of the debt is necessary. At the same time, the state may take financial risks on condition it follows the order of law and its fundamental principles, allowing the building of mutual trust. The aim of the article is to present the state of public finances in Poland between 2010 and 2015 as one of the elements to build economic security of the country.
