Summary/Abstract: The paper proposes a theoretical model describing the typology of rural communities in relation to the types of goods and forms of social organization, and its consequences for the functioning of family businesses in rural areas. It consists of previous research results concerning the movements of different capital forms, including social capital. The analysis included creation of various forms of rural communities under the influence of socioeconomic changes. The authors attempt to describe this diversity, indicating its potential impact on the business activities of families living in rural areas. Theoretical study included the achievements of rural, family and economic sociology.
