Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is an evaluation of the significance of SME’s sector investment activity from Lodz region on the background of the country and evaluation of dependence between investment intensity and return on gross sales. The empirical analysis is based on selected economic indicators: the investment intensity, the share of capital expenditures for the purchase of fixed assets in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of analyzed regions and return on gross sales. The result of the paper shows that size of SME’s investment expenditures from Lodz region is considered as important on the background of the country. The best share in investment expenditures has medium-sized enterprises. The article is based on the published data coming from Central Statistical Office characterizing the enterprises operating in Łódź region from the years 2009–2015.
