Summary/Abstract: Access economy and sharing economy are characteristic for the economy of the 21st century, in which the existing economic paradigm, associated with the property and possession ( so-called „ownership”) is changed to access, sharing and co-sharing. The analyzed models became new directions, and even trends, dynamically developing in the economy of the 21st century, especially thanks to modern information and communication technologies (including the Internet) and social networking. The aim of the work is to characterise the models, famous in the history of the economic thought and known from the hundreds of years, which appeared in the new version in the modern economy and have affected economic decisions made by both consumers and producers. Due to the range of presented issues the descriptive method, the method of historical-comparative assessment and the analysis of the content of scientific publications have been used in the work.
