On the Way Towards Developing a Sustainable Portfolio of ICT Projects – Strategic Aspects

Summary/Abstract: Sustainable tourism development is one of the priorities for The European Union. The dynamic development of tourism is a factor causing the demand for qualified staff, innovative services and modern management tools, including ICT. The aim of sustainable tourism is to gain the economic and social benefits of the tourism development reducing at the same time bad impacts on the natural, cultural or social environment. It is achieved by balancing the needs of tourists with the needs of their destinations. The paper presents sustainable objectives and tasks found in programmes and strategies in Poland and in region related to sustainable tourism and methodology which helps develop a sustainable portfolio of ICT projects in this area.
