Summary/Abstract: One of the most important health care tasks is to ensure optimal allocation of rare resources and fair distribution of them with the dignity of the patient. Due to the specificity of the Polish payer, keeping the balance between expenses and needs is a very difficult task. In Poland, as a result of changes in the provisions, the obligation to assess health needs was introduced, using maps of health needs for this purpose. Maps of health needs are a tool supporting the process of making strategic and financial decisions in health care. Persons managing entities will have an access to relevant epidemiological and demographic data, data on the infrastructure potential of health care facilities as well as an access to relevant clinical practice guidelines. The aim of the article is to analyze the maps of health needs and their impact on financial planning in healthcare entities.
