Qualitative Research Regarding the Implementation of Dual VET in Cluj County – The Perspective of the Technical Schools

Summary/Abstract: The introduction of the dual vocational education and training system (VET) in Romania is a hot topic nowadays and has enjoyed much attention during the last 6 years since its introduction in 2012. The introduction of dual VET has been received with great enthusiasm and with the hope that it would solve several issues, among which scarcity of specialised workforce in Romania is the most pressing. The aim of this research paper is thus to highlight the results of a qualitative research carried out between May 2017 and June 2018 in technical schools in Cluj county with the purpose of singling out the implementation difficulties encountered, from the perspective of the teachers and of the principals in these schools. Moreover, the research paper presents the case study of a technical highschool in Cluj-Napoca, with respect to the implementation difficulties of dual VET.
