Summary/Abstract: The article consists of three parts. In the first one, the author explains that he treats the concept of narration primarily as a tool for organizing our understanding of the world. In the second part, he reconstructs the individualist narrative, which became popular in Poland with the advent of the capitalist system. In the third part, he presents a possible counter-narrative to this individualistic vision. Using the views and findings of researchers critical of the neo-liberal version of capitalism – such as Ha Joon-Chang or Joseph Stiglitz – he also presents a substantive argument for accepting this counter-narrative.
