Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the consequences of constructivist ideas of Richard Rorty and Stanley Fish for the theory of interpretation. The point of reference here is the attitude of these thinkers towards the category of the author. According to the main argument of the article Rorty and Fish, despite what many claim, do not exclude the author from the process of interpretation – even if one was to consider only these texts which most clearly present their constructivist attitudes. The author of the article addresses also the polemics between Andrzej Szahaj and Michał Januszkiewicz, published in “Teksty Drugie” 1-2/ 2012.
