Summary/Abstract: The article is a proposal of a socio-cultural analysis of the reasons behind Donald Trump's election success. Although many texts have been written about the current President of the USA, most of them focus on him, his individual traits. This text, however, treats Trump as as symptom of a broader social disease which has spread across the United States. Its two most vital aspects include the growing social inequality and drop in the quality of media discourse. These are the reasons why the slogan “Make America Great Again”, preached by the candidate who showed an inclination for sexism, xenophobia and dissemination of false information, was so successful.
