Summary/Abstract: In tourism, as in other areas of the economy, a rapid increase in the use of ICT has occurred. This development has been influenced by the dynamic development of mobile devices and the Internet, as well as changes in tourists’ needs and behaviours. Tourist information plays an important role in selecting a tourist destination, so entities responsible for creating it must use modern tools to support marketing activities, with a particular emphasis on promotion. These tools include mobile applications that extend the functionality of mobile devices and facilitate everyday activities. This causes a change in how cities and regions interact with tourists who use their products. The aim of the article is to organise the theoretical and practical aspects of the use of mobile applications in the tourist information system and to identify the advantages and disadvantages associated with the use of this tool.
