Summary/Abstract: There is a variety of techniques used in Turkish embroideries. Being among these techniques; canvas has protected its value as a Turkish handicraft from past to present. It is still used as a decorous and an elaborate type of embroidery today. Technology and mechanization have developed rapidly together with the industrial revolution. Today’s technological developments have also affected the area of embroidery and computer-aided embroidery machines have started to be used commonly. Thus, the production is provided in a shorter time, at a lower cost and with less labor force. Today, the canvas technique which has a distinctive esthetical style and technical properties is applied with computer-aided embroidery programs independently of techniques and thus, loses its traditionality. The only way of preventing this is to train qualified personnel who are acquainted with the canvas technique in computer-aided embroidery programs. Accordingly, this study aims to; bring the canvas technique to the present in accordance with the original text, prepare pattern designs in order to apply it in computer-aided embroidery machines, prepare and develop a curriculum suggestion including all stages so as to set an example to similar studies by using a descriptive method based on documentary screening and work anlysis. In this context, the products made with the canvas technique in the center of Konya have been photographed. A canvas example of two of these products has been drawn and designed in the Accurate4 Embroidery Design program. The pattern moulds prepared have been tried in computer-aided embroidery machines, improved and transformed into products. This application has proved that the traditional canvas technique can be applied in computer-aided embroidery machines.
