Summary/Abstract: The text is a part of Wesołowski’s doctoral thesis written over 30 years ago. It is published in memory of Stanisław Dróżdż, and the phrase ‘in frame’ is connected with that fact. The thesis analyzed visual aspects of Drożdż’s projects in the context of the visuali-ty of literary texts and the history of European literature as considered from the perspective of literary theories. The text includes three chapters. The first one is entitled The Visuality of Literature: Statements and Comments. Here, Wesołowski analyzes visu-al activity of texts in the context of different literary phenomena which were recorded throughout the history of literature. He writes about single signs (as doubtful or fonically non-valent ideo- and picto-grams, not-written signs), and about textual graphics (semantic-pictorial and graphic-expressive functions of entire texts and their parts). The two chapters that follow, include the description of historic and literary process connected with factors and functions of particular literary texts. Wesołowski divided old (mimetic art of the 19th century) from new art (the 20th century art). The first chapter is entitled Magic and Play Function from Symias to Briusov. The second chapter is entitled The Function of Autotelisation from Apollinaire to Concrete Poetry. Wesołowski starts his analysis from the description of Polish anonymous acroteleuton from the 17th century (possibly by Jan Andrzej Morsztyn) and finishes it describing Dróżdż’s ‘concept-shape’. Both texts are entitled A Circle.
