Summary/Abstract: The present study provides characteristics of the authors’ poetics present in the books of poetry from 1920 – 1940’s (V. Závada) and 1930 – 1940’s (J. Kainar) and points out the essential features (motive, theme, versology) of their individual expression. Based on the analysis and comparison, the study distinguishes certain transformation in poetics in the 1950’s books of poetry (Vilém Závada’s Město světla, Josef Kainar’s Veliká láska). In spite of the fact that poetics is governed by requirements imposed from outside in the 1950’s, both authors go beyong the general literary production.
