Scarcity of digital information goods

Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the scarcity of information goods in particular in there digital form. The purpose of the article is to consider the issue of scarcity in the context of the substance of digital information goods, which are bits. The empirical material for research on scarcity is the price of hard disks between 1980 and 2017. The applied in paper research method is based on theoretical considerations on the scarcity in economics and analogy to the relationships described by Moore’s law, which were subject to critical analysis. In the article is analyze the changes in unit cost of megabyte in hard drives what show the relationship between the scarcity media and the non-scarcity of non-material information goods. As the result of research, it has been shown that in a relativistic approach digital information goods can be non-scarcity.
