Summary/Abstract: The study presents the most important ideas from the Forewords of several books (translations, compilations and original writings) elaborated by figures of Romanian Enlightenment from the beginning of 19th century. The author concludes that the key issue of these texts is the “enlightenment of the nation” through learning, especially moral learning with the purpose of rebuilding of the society.
