The Defense Expanses of Military Forces SR within the Models 2010 and 2015 – Plans and Reality

Summary/Abstract: Fundamental changes in global security environment after the Cold War and bipolar division of the world have brought not only lots of positives but also lots of negatives, which continuously started to appear in the shape of various asymmetric security threats. The Slovak republic, within the reaction to new security risks and threats, implemented its new defence strategy aimed not only to the defence of its territory but also to its political, security and economic interests. Therefore, an author in the article deal with new security threats and their roots, analyses adopted models of the Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence of the Slovak republic development and modernization, and simultaneously, compare the defence expenditures planned according to the mentioned models for the fulfilment of government-appointed tasks and international commitments to really earmarked financial resources.
