Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the spiritual activity of three nuns who eventually became sacred as well as doctores ecclesiae, the only women having this title: Ecaterina of Siena (the 14th century), Teresa de Avila (the 16th century) and Teresa de Lisieux (the 19th century). We are going to emphasize Ecaterina of Sienna (the author of The Letters), the holy patron of Europe, the Christians protector of the European Union, The actor of some special experiences, a real example for the female religious writings of centuries to come, having an important place in the history of the Italian language as well as in the Italian linguistics. We are going to mention the books with a religious content of the other two teachers of the church Teresa de Avila and her The Inner Castle and Teresa de Lisieux, the holy patron of France, the follower of Ecaterina’s ideas, with her The History of a Soul, both works being translated into Romanian. The list of mystical women and nuns who made contribution to the renewal of Christian spirituality is very long and it demonstrates that the choice of the monastic path belonged to themselves, that it was not imposed from the exterior.
