Warmian and Masurian families in the perspective of Maslow’s theory of needs

Summary/Abstract: This study analysed the hypothesis that Warmian and Masurian families are characterized by a lower level of satisfaction of their needs, as defined by A. Maslow in his theory of needs, than in other regions of Poland. The conducted studies show that there is only one dependence according to the relationship between socio-economic conditions and the fulfilment of needs which were described in it. This concerns the need for regular nutrition, which is less often satisfied by Warmian and Masurian spouses. Other differences, such as less openness in expressing one’s views at home and the more frequent availability of one’s own room by a member of the family, may be explained by the reduced religious affiliation of these spouses and having fewer children, with fewer of them currently living at home.
