Summary/Abstract: An authentic pioneer not only in Banat literature, but also in Romanian writing, Niţă Popovici (as he was nicknamed by his friends) was the first who focused on urban literature. In an epoch marked by powerful energy,he wanted to show how interesting the urban beauty may be and how short-stories can convey it.This study depicts the way in which (due to the cognomen Titu Maiorescu suggested) literary history emphasised either the regional facets in Popovici-Bănăţeanul’s stories or Mihai Eminescu’s influence in his poetry. In this regard, the following survey tries to bring the writer’s complex personality into attention and to carry out a real literary debate.
