Air And Climate Protection As An Area Of Investment Activity Of Communes In The Counties Of Western Małopolska In 2011–2016 – A Comparative Study

Summary/Abstract: The article presents air and climate protection as an area of investment activity for communes in three poviats of Western Małopolska: oświęcimski, chrzanowski and wadowicki. Its aim is primarily to present the pace of implementation by the local authorities of this area of activities in the field of air and climate protection. The article indicates local leaders in this field. The main thesis of the article is in this case the statement that the activities of communes in the area of air and climate protection in the analyzed area, measured by the level of investment outlays, proved to be insufficient, and in many cases even symbolic. Only in the few communes of the poviats examined, the problem of air pollution with suspended dust has been defined as a harmful factor for the life of residents and sustainable development, causing systematic and long-term remedial actions to solve the problem. Confirmation of the thesis was based on the analysis of reporting documents and data available in the Local Data Bank. The obtained results provided the basis for final conclusions and proposals for modifying the activities of local authorities in the field of air and climate protection.
