General Aspects Regarding the Collective Management of Patrimonial Copyright and Related Rights

Summary/Abstract: In 2018, Law no. 8/1996 on copyright and neighboring rights has been substantially amended and supplemented by Law no. 74/2018, in particular, as regards the collective management of patrimonial copyright and related rights. Much of these changes and additions have been made to transpose, in Romania's domestic law, some European directives. Following these amendments and additions, Law no. 8/1996 was republished. The proposed study is intended, firstly, to contribute to the analysis of general issues relating to the collective management of patrimonial copyright and related rights, as well as an alarm mark against the many inadequately logically-legislated or edited rules careless. I express the intention that, in the future numbers of the Romanian Journal of Intellectual Property Law or other magazines, I will publish other studies, in which I will address other aspects related to the amendments and additions to Law no. 8/1996 through the Law no. 74/2018.
