Education, Security and Good Governance. Westernization of Romanian Military Education as an Imperative

Summary/Abstract: This article is about the issue of the connection among education, security and good governance in EU countries, including Romania. In the western countries, education is a strategically important element in ensuring the national security. Within the modernization process, education and culture play very important roles, therefore there is a need for the Romanian military education to become fully integrated in the EU and NATO education standards, and “westernized”. Romanian military education suffers today from three main problems> a managerial problem, a quality-related problem and the poor offer for training and specialization of the high-education graduated civil servants within the Ministry of Defence.
