Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of the article is to analyze the changes in teachers’ employment in the school year 2016/2017 compared to the school year 2005/2006 as a result of the introduction of a new education reform as well as demographic changes taking place in Poland. The article presents the current situation of teachers on the labour market. Demographic changes were pointed out, which force the Polish educational system to undergo numerous adaptation processes, especially in the context of the number of schools and the number of teaching positions. The teacher is not only a teacher, but also an employee who constantly raises and completes his professional qualifications in order to adapt to the changing requirements of the labour market. Completed pedagogical studies and many years of professional career no longer ensure employment stability. The destabilization of the education sector, which has occurred as a result of the reform, means that teachers can not feel safe in their positions. The changes proposed in the reform have also limited the existing privileges of teachers. The effects of the reform, which are spread over time, can only be assessed when schools start functioning in the new structure. The article is a contribution to research and debate on the effects of education reform, which are spread over time.
