An Attempt to Assess the Effectiveness of Commercial Banks Against the Dynamics of Their Profitability

Summary/Abstract: Abstract: Purpose – Application of the DEA method and strategic matrix in assessing the effectiveness of co-operative banks was taking into account the dynamics of profitability Design/Methodology/approach – To accomplish the goal DEA method and strategy matrix was created with financial statements data Findings – The picture of the competitive situation in the banking sector was illustrated and analyzed, thanks to the DEA tool and the strategic matrix through the reported values from the banks' financial statements. Originality/value – Paper presents application of strategic analysis tool and a quantitative method to make a consistent assessment of the banks' economic efficiency carried out in relation to profitability de-termined by the classic ROE and revenue.
