HYDRO-POLITICS AND CONFLICTS OVER WATER

Summary/Abstract: Water is not only the primordial element of life on the Blue Planet but also a necessity for the development of any industrial or military activity. On the planetary level, there is a shortage of water as a resource usable by people for survival; therefore finding and owning sources of water led many times to the outburst of violent conflicts, resulting in important losses of human lives. The attempt to institute laws governing the access to water finally led to the emergence of a new specific policy, hydro-politics. When the political and diplomatic means in this domain fail, there will inevitably be wars overwater too.
