Social responsibility of an organization from the perspective of public universities

Summary/Abstract: Due to the changes taking place in the socio-economic sphere, including the expectations of members of the society, the idea of social responsibility is increasingly implemented at universities, including public ones. Therefore, the article is the result of the analysis to answer three questions: why can we talk about the social responsibility of the university, what this responsibility is and what types of activities are undertaken by selected public universities in Poland in accordance with conditions previously defined social responsibility. To achieve this goal, in-depth literature studies, analysis of the content of websites of universities, semi-structured and in-depth interviews with employees of selected public universities were conducted.
