Summary/Abstract: Social changes have immensely influenced all segments of society, particularly families and schools. Socialization of children faces a serious crisis, since the old norms and values have been degraded, while families, due to a number of problems, have difficulties in their functioning, which makes it more difficult for schools to carry out their serious task in educating children. Being burdened with serious problems, teachers are very often left without complete or sufficient support from a society, its superiors and colleagues. The research shows that the most serious impediment that teachers face with is not education but bringing up the children. It means that teachers are competent enough when it comes to education, but, on the other hand, they do not have enough competences to bring up the children and adapt the system to the needs of students and their parents. The experiences of the developed countries show that the best way to strengthen the competences of teachers is to use own experience and supervision. Supervision is the most common practice recognized by the western countries and used by different professions which are focused on working with people, including the educational staff. Introduction of supervision in the educational system has to be understood as a support to teachers in order for them to strengthen their competencies to carry out their tasks efficiently and with a high quality, since working with children and the youth has become a focus of the overall activities, primarily because of the Convention on Children Rights which focuses on the best interests of children.
